Nvidia 8800 GT 512MB - Alternative

Hi,

I bought a re-furb 8800gts 640 a couple of months ago to replace a de-funked 7900 and so far it has handled everything I've thrown at it (with the exception of FSX). I paid a little over 60 quid for it, and for me, if it only lasts a year, it's money well spent and by then the 460/70/80's will have dropped in price so I can upgrade.

Or if I can't get the money required, back to the refurbed 8800 GT..

I seriously suggest you save up extra £20 ish and get the GTX460 768MB...it's more bang for bucks than the 5770 if we compare at speed:money ratio:

It's hard for me to get money, but I have re-worked my components and I may be able to get a better GPU.....Hopefully...

No probs what so ever with the 8800, though I haven't tried to overclock it, not sure what it's been through before, but it seems to handle well at stock.

I might only overclock it if I want some slight boost...
But besides that, I think that'll be my option if I can't get enough for a mid-range...
