Hello, i replaced my old card with a 9600 gso.

i had a 8600gt which ran bioshock without any problems with no lag spikes, but my 9600 gso seems to lag spike on bioshock all the time.

i have defraged, scanned for viruses etc, checked for disc errors, checked for bioshock fragmentation on steam. even windowd mode and lower settings dont help. this is the only game that this happnes on.

do you think it might be a driver issue? im using the newest driver from nvidia.

Did you get a DDR2 512Mb GSO?

If so that may be the problem as they have a lower memory bandwith than a DDR3 8600GT despite having more memory

my 8600gt aws a ddr2 memory mate. also the gso has a bigger memory bandwidth, so dont know whats wrong there.

was a xfx nvidia 512mb ddr2, nvidia 9600 gso 512mb gddr2

the gso is basically a re-badged 8800gs, so it should be beating an 8600GT by a fair bit. It has a much higher bandwidth and fillrate.

I'd uninstall the drivers, run driver cleaner, and do a fresh reinstall of a new download of the drivers :)

Installed the drivers that came with the card, problem solved =) seems its a driver issue hopefuly next months nvidia drivers are better hehe.
