Just a quick question for the oracles of the forum.

I am looking to upgrade my current graphics card as it is starting to grind along with the newer games and dammit i wanna play COD4 properly!!

Current spec:

P4 3Ghz (Single Core)
MSI 915P Combo FR mobo
2Gb DDR2 533mhz RAM
Leadtek 7800GT 256Mb Graphics
Two DVD roms (One writer)
Two SATA HDD
Win XP Pro SP2
Tagan 520Watt PSU

My question is this:

If i bought a new 9600GT 512, or an 8800GT 512 graphics card, would my it work with my current motherboard? Not sure of the exact PCI-e spec for this board at the moment. Wondered if anyone was able to help?

IF it is a resounding no, can anyone suggest a half decent mobo to go with my current kit, and enable me to run the 9600 or 8800?

Thanks in advance!

Z

Probably find that with that CPU then an 9600GT/8800GT is being held back by it.

I remember when I used to run a P4 3.0Ghz on an ABit IC-7G board with 6800Ultra that it showed with Doom3 that starting to bottleneck the GPU.

Both of these cards are superior to a 6800Ultra so probably overkill for it.

Thanks guys... Think it might be time to do a full upgrade of the system then. Didn't want to spend that much right now but these things do happen :D

Although it may be worth a go, I can always pump up the rest of the kit later in the year.

Thanks for the help!!

thats not too bad then. was thinking about going for the Q6600 bundle they have on here, about 260 quid when i looked at it.

Might use it as an excuse to go to vista now anyway and get a new hard drive while i am at it (amazing how 300 Gb disappears these days!)

What are the OCUK value mobo's like? Saw that some people have had problems with the bios?
