Nvidia 970 Display Issues

Hi,

A few days ago my computer display stopped functioning correctly, the computer will boot up fine, and reach desktop every time with display still working fine, around 5-10 seconds after reaching desktop the display will turn to black, the computer is still running fine as its still possible to turn off the computer with one press of the power button and i can hear the computer shutting down etc.

I tried uninstalling the graphics driver in which made the computer operate fine, when I restarted with the new driver in place the same issue kept occurring, after that I tried to install a stable fall back driver and that also had the same issues.

Im wondering if this is a problem I can fix without replacing the card.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'd try using DDU (google it) to completely uninstall the NVIDIA drivers, then installing the latest ones.

You could also try another output on the graphics card, such as HDMI, DVI or DP.

Check the PCI-E power cables are securely attached to your card.

As a last record before sending it back, either try the GPU in another known working PC, or try another PSU in your current PC.

Good luck.

Thanks for the advice Dave, unfortunately I don't have access to another computer at the moment so testing my GPU is out of the options at the moment. I did try DDU and installing the newest driver and still the same issue as befor.

Any additional help would be appreciated.

Op. If your running a Intel system with on board graphics (say Intel 4600) disable them totally in bois. May fix as it sounds similar to a issue I had a while ago.

I have this same issue with a 970m and Intel 530. It's massively annoying but only seems to happen when I am running both cards and plugged into a pair of 24" monitors that are plugged into a dock which uses displaylink.

If I turn off the Intel card then it's fine and works as expected but means that I have to keep going to the bios and enabling / disabling the intel card.
