Nvidia 9800gt temps

Was playing Crysis on High Settings and the game locked up. After a bit of digging some people put the crash down to the card overheating. Now from what i can tell using Speedfan, my 9800gt idles at 40C and when i play Crysis the hottest ive seen the card go upto is 67C. When i play TF2 i get temps of around 60C.

Are these temps dangerous / should i be worried? May i also add that im using stock fan speeds.

40c idle is about right, my 7900 used to idle around 27c & my bro's 9600gt idles around 45c.

67 might be a little high, but then again it is crysis we're talking about.

Just to add, i did a further check and found my GPU to be hitting 79Cwhilst playing Crysis (Empire total war, tf2, company of heroes, ut3 all register 55C-60C). I've since modified my fan setup and dedicated an intake to my GPU and i get 70C tops on High Level Crysis.

How hot does my 9800gt have to be before its starts dying?

hmmm, just decided to run that program and it says my 8800gt is running at 73c whilst idle

And no.

Modern video cards are designed to run pretty damn hot and 67 degrees is good for load temps anyway. Nothing to worry about here.

I've set up a RivaTuner profile for my 9800GT. I set tMax to 70'C. tMin to 45'C. tRange to 32. Now it hovers around 60'C under load and isn't loud at all.
