There is a huge thread over at Nvidia forums about the 6 series 'stutter' problem that's been ongoing since release:

http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=226227&st=0

The problem has eventually been acknowledged by NVIDIA:

ManuelG(NVIDIA Technical Support), Post number #455:

'We are able to replicate issue. Only occurs on GTX 600 series. It is likely some how caused by polling code in our drivers since it occurs on a cycle and should be fixed in a future driver.'

The TDR issue affects both AMD and NVIDIA. Hundreds of threads with both cards having problems.

This is where the forum falls flat on it's ****!:(

It's a massive problem for 560 owners, bios flashing, upping voltages not using firefox, downclocking factory cards etc, with still no clear fix in sight, but yet again it turns into an AMD problem too when it's simply not the case.

AMD suffers nowhere near the amount Nvidia does at the moment on TDR's.

Gregster, are you telling me you don't know what I'm running?:)

I'm not scared to put the boot into either, the 7 series zero core basically doesn't work(I know 2 owners that it simply doesn't do anything), CrossFire from what I gather isn't up to much either with the 7 series either.

I had zero problems on my MSI 560 tis.

Much the same as myself with my 69's but I'm not ignorant(not aimed at you in the slightest bhavv:)) that others can have faults.

@Gregster, general tdr issues hit both teams regularly, which your links show, most of them from 2010 but the 560TDR issue is in a league of it's own.

Point out the bios flashing for stability/downclocking in the 69 series to cure TDR's that's plaguing a series of cards.

There's a better link straight from AMD regarding TDR's:

http://forums.amd.com/game/messagev...=120896&STARTPAGE=1&FTVAR_FORUMVIEWTMP=Linear

Note that it also started back in 2009 and compare it with the 560 thread over at Nvidia.

TDR search from TPU:

This is not a Nvidia bashing by any means, point out where I've bashed Nvidia and AMD in the thread.

Shouldn't folks be aware that there is a problem regarding the 6's, in case, you know, they want to buy one?

Quite disappointed tbph in your reaction mate.

Yep zero core simply does not work for me either.

@davebeast,

I've seen it not working myself first hand, so clearly there is a problem somewhere.

Agreed if it was posted from a 680/670 user who is having the issue but since it comes from an AMD user....

What?

So far in this thread:

1. I highlighted that Nvidia have acknowledged the fault.

2. In reference to the 'oh they will fix it unlike AMD fixing anything', I replied with the 560 TDR fault which you had but luckily sorted for yourself.

3. I stated zero core doesn't work.

4. 7 series CrossFire isn't looking so good

So by your logic I should only be allowed to comment on points 4 and 5 even though there is a 9800GT getting used elsewhere in my house?:p

Thanks for cleaning up the thread webbo, another one that's spiralled out of control.:(

In response to how I worded my op, I'm not an Nvidia/AMD rep, I don't need to butter it up and sugar coat it not to offend anyone, that's why they pay their PR guys handsomely, and I sure as hell could have been much more scathing but that wasn't my intention.

Banter is one thing, but the **** flung at me in this thread is getting to the point of being far too much hassle, just for being informative and trying to help fellow forum users.

Sometimes information like this can help folks not ripping their PC to bits to find a fault that's hard to find and not waste countless hours/£'s trying to rectify when in fact it's out of your hands and is a driver problem.

I really do not care for either of them, take it or leave it, simple as that, best bang for buck every time.

I applaud Tommy for starting this thread.

I am a 680 user & I have massive stuttering problems with my set up. I did not know nvidia had identified the problem & were actively working on it. Now I do.

He's helped at least one person here so why has this thread turned into an AMD vs Nvidia thread?

^
That was the point of the thread, thanks by the way Nuwidol.

Toms hardware has asked Nvidia about the problem:

'Nvidia Responds to GeForce 600 Series V-Sync Stuttering Issue

Nvidia provides an official response to the reported v-sync stuttering issue with its GeForce GTX 600 Series

Tom's Hardware has received several requests to look into a v-sync issue that a number of owners are seeing with Nvidia's new GeForce GTX 600-series graphics cards. A number of readers have pointed us in the direction of a very long forum thread where multiple customers express concern over stuttering problems with their Kepler-based graphics cards.

Our editorial team played through a number of games with GeForce GTX 600-series board and was unsuccessful in reproducing the issue. As such, we're fairly confident that the issue does not apply to every configuration based on Nvidia's newest cards; some folks are experiencing it, while others aren't.

Eager for an explanation, Tom's Hardware reached out to Nvidia for its response, understanding that owners of $400, $500, and $1000 graphics cards want to know why their boards are misbehaving. The company sent over an official response to the GeForce GTX 600-series stuttering issue, which reads:

We have received reports of an intermittent v-sync stuttering issue from some of our customers. We’ve root caused the issue to a driver bug and identified a fix for it. The fix requires extensive testing though, and will not be available until our next major driver release targeted for June (post-R300). For users experiencing this issue, the interim workaround is to disable v-sync via the Nvidia Control Panel or in-game graphics settings menu.

Although that's not necessarily the most reassuring message, we're at least glad to see that Nvidia has identified the issue and is working on a fix. We'll update you if we hear any more on this, so stay tuned!'

Hopefully Nvidia do get it all sorted out by June.
