NVIDIA and TSMC Ship One-Billionth GeForce Graphics Processor

ATI fanboys - can never handle the truth...

Ah! I see how that works, if I start calling telephones by a different name, it means I invented it? I think it's time for me to get rich *goes to rename various things*.

On a side note, "The term was defined and popularized by Nvidia in 1999" brings to mind "nVidia: the way it's meant to be rebranded, since 1999".

I did not know Nvidia recieve money everytime someone uses the term GPU, In that case you do right in renaming things!

Stuff like the IBM 8514/A from the 1980's could be classed as a GPU if we really want to put on our pedantic hats.
Using that logic, surely it's also pedantic that nVidia claims to have invented the "GPU" because they're ignoring anything before they "coined" the term "GPU", which is hardly original considering processors were known as "CPUs".

you wanting to not believe it and it not being true are two different things.

go read the web. it is generally accepted that the geoforce 256 was the first true gpu

my god... Why is there always some nit picking. Why is no one actually happy on this part of the forums?

some good news has been shown, and next thing you know the pack of dogs are out.

Wait, so 3DFX weren't making chips that processed graphics prior to the Geforce 256? It has nothing to do with not wanting to believe it, if it's not true, it's not true. As has been said, just because they started using the specific term "GPU" doesn't mean they invented microchips that accelerate 3D graphics.

"We invented the GPU" when they didn't isn't nit-picking. People wonder why nVidia get hated on so much, then act like it's okay when they lie and make things up. This is the number one reason nVidia get flamed so much, because of the lies they tell.
