The PS4 has sold 20 million consoles.

How is this possibly going to be a rival to that? The average joe on the street who buys a console won't even have heard of Nvidia.

The PS2 sold 150million over it's lifetime and Sony say the PS4 is doing better comparatively. There's no chance any Joe Schmoe will take this over a PS$, especially when they realise they can't play next gen AAA games on it.

Games drive consoles sales, it's why there's always an uptick in console sales when one of the gaming behemoths (GTA, COD) is released. What does this have to drive sales? Old games? Android games? It's just not enough.
 
Nothing to do with gaming, but for me the best idea and piece of tech that I've seen from anyone at GDC so far is this lovely little thing.

and the reason is because it is rechargeable via USB.

Every device that has a remote should follow this lead and give us a rechargeable remote.
For me this is the device that has made me go ....WOW we should have had these years ago.

As for the rest of the stuff, well its a bit meh...but its ok I suppose.

It's why i specifically mentioned streaming because I didn't think you actually thought the machine would do 4k gaming well, the things a pup compared to the rigs needed for 4k and even those struggle.

I said play 4k, I thought that would be obvious in being video. I would have course try gaming at 4k too, just to see how it goes. It doesnt matter to me if it works or not.
 
re: Doom 3 etc. Does everyone only play the latest bang up to date games on their systems ? I still play an 11-12 year old game in WoW and love revisiting older games.
 
the specs on it sound pretty nice, i think greg is just disappointed its not a VR :)
weird comparing it to mobile tho...when its not mobile

LOL yep that's defiantly what sets NVidia apart from the other guys. 5 years in the making ? They have to be having a laugh. I was hoping for something ground breaking we got a set top box that can play Android games and Doom3

Must be an early April fools joke.


PS im a happy 970gtx owner before anyone calls me an AMD fan boy.

so you hoped for something different, you didnt get what you hoped for and are coming across pretty angry about it ? God help your parents at christmas.
 
Hopefully today's news will bring something a little more interesting. I have more interest in that Zotac steam box than this in fairness but horses for courses.
