It is getting silly.
If they somehow managed to go to a 65nm process for video cards, like they have done with CPUs recently, will it make the cards shorter?
If so, PLEASE DO IT GUYS!

these things are just getting ridiculous...

a smaller die process wouldnt necessarily mean the card can be shorter. there are other factors which can effect the length of the card, such as amount of ram used etc

ugh
with the speed at which technology is advancing, I am sure we can come up with a smaller video card.....

Consumer demand seems to be driving it that way unfortunately. I'd love both companies to take a break from the war and focus on producing smaller more efficient chips rather than the current 600W psu requirement monsters that are coming out just now. Not so long ago a 600W psu was massive overkill, but now it's almost base spec with psu's upto 1KW which is effectively the same as a single bar on an electric fire

I can remember looking at pics of the mythical Voodoo 5 6000 a few years back and laughing at the sheer stupidity of such a large card. And then yesterday I saw the pictures of the R600...

Personally I find that even my x800XT with it's after market Iceberq 6 is a bit of handful. It gets in the way of the Northbridge on my Neo 2 Platinum mobo, and renders two of my PCI slots unusable. Roll on integrated CPU/GPU processors I say, and begone with all this clunky Graphics card nonsense.

(ATI Fanboy by the way)
