Nvidia attacks PS4 hardware, calls it "low-end"

It's not surprising they have gone with AMD really, NVidia were inside the original Xbox and MS were forever complaining about the GPU cost, so what did they do with 360? they jumped ship to ATI. Sony will want PS4 to be as cheap to manufacture as possible so they have done the same. Drivers aren't an issue at all with consoles and ATI (AMD) have always made well specced and good value hardware.

They say it like they were even seriously considered. It's no secret that the industry doesn't like working with nVidia at all. They're really coming across as bitter here.

There's quite a few reasons as for why Sony, MS and Nintendo would avoid nVidia for this sort of thing outside of working relationships.

I wouldn't be surprised if that issue they had with all those faulty laptop GPUs had a big impact on their consideration too, especially for Sony because the laptop GPU issue impacted on Sony quite a lot with nVidia's unwillingness to accept fault, and then a similar issue being the cause of the YLOD on the PS3. nVidia need to stop being so delusional.

@mmj_uk AMD don't even have an issue with drivers anyway. Anyone who insists driver issues are unique to AMD is ignorant.

however true nvidia's words may or may not be it's a bit pathetic that they've immediately started saying firstly that they didn't take the job because it was too low paying (ie calling amd desperate), and calling the ps4 a "low end" pc as if people didn't know that already. low blows everywhere.

if nvidia didn't feel threatened they wouldn't be resorting to such shoddy "marketing". i'm not a fanboy but it's really difficult at times not to take sides with amd.

To be honest I have a hard time believing much of what nVidia says, and for me it's not really about taking sides like being on AMD's side, it's about realising that nVidia's especially bad for talking rubbish and lying.

AMD doesn't even need to be mentioned here, I think more than enough has gone on with nVidia for Sony to not even consider using them regardless of production costs. I think if AMD weren't able to do the job, they'd still try to avoid nVidia for the reasons I suggested further up, as they've been a headache for anyone that has used their GPUs in a console and for anyone who has worked with them in the gaming industry.

i cant wait for nvidia to bring out there own console and blow a hole in the market, with there custom motherboard, custom design graphic all and then there own, CPU which is already in there phone, that would be a big competition. There is nothing wrong with a bit of 'banter', everyone does it.

I wonder what the chap thinks of the Ouya?? Its a desktop gaming console with a Tegra 3.

His bitterness has probably gotten in the way of remembering that Tegra even exists, though Tegra's reception doesn't ever seem to be particularly good. I think a lot of people are bitter over the typical nVidia tactics when it comes to Tegra, with the software locks they use on Tegra games so that they only run on Tegra hardware that they then use as a basis for showing how much more powerful their Tegra GPUs are.

well i know what you mean. it's not like i directly support amd. but it's impossible to criticize nvidia's graphics marketing without mentioning or referencing amd because negative criticism of nvidia is inherently linked with the diametrically opposed stance of amd. if i say nvidia is "bad", it's because amd is "good". and all their marketing is aimed against the opposition, and there is only one opponent. we're talking about nvidia here because of what they're trying to do to amd (ie take sales away from them).

Never happen, it's your pipe dream.

I honestly can't tell if your serious :p

I didn't mean it in that regard. I was highlighting that AMD don't even need to be mentioned here because nvidia have done enough to be criticised completely on their own merit without the digs they're making at AMD.

Additionally people don't say nvidia's bad because AMD is good. I judge nVidia on their own merit, it doesn't have to be an opposition thing.
