This can only lead to good things, its about time as well.

This is probably why they are making us wait for their new technology and have been churning out the same old 8800's.

'Oh, by the way, there were a few minor debts amount to a couple of bi...'

*sound of screaming*

So, does this mean that Physx chips are going to be incorporated on new GeForce cards now?

so nVidia spent loads of money on what is currently worthless hardware.....

This will either mean they are sold again in 3 months, or you get some strange GPU/PPU hybrid cards...

I'm actually glad someone bought them, the technology is interesting if applied right, and with good financial backing

Hopefully they'll make it more of an add-on to their existing graphics cards rather than trying to push the stupid accelerator cards.

That way they'll actually be able to get some developer support behind the technology.

Well with the noise that nVidia have been making in the past about physic you would think so....

Time will tell. I think that Nvidia has put some thought into the matter before spending cash and buying Ageia. Even if something good comes out of this though i wouldn't expect immidiate results like using any Ageia technology on their upcoming card. Maybe a few years down the road we shall see PPU's on video card becoming mainstream and that will shift the majority of developers supporting it and supporting it well.

hmm whith Physx on GFX that would mean that there would be a guaranteed large resevoir of Physx compatible systems to inspire devs to use it..... coupled with the TWIMTBP and you could have a whole range of games which only have the "top effects" enabled on NV hardware, or worse, play like a POS on ATI hardware whatever the setting (what was that Physx concept demo that seemed to be designed NOT to run without an ageia card?)

And whether or not Ageia works that well at the moment (debateable), with the resources of NV behind them that could become a different matter.

Either that or the money spent in dev & space incorporating physx onto a gfx card will be so great that by focusing on "pure" gfx ATI can grab a sizeable lead.

interesting times......

I'm guessing that they are going to add the Ageia Physx tech into their cards, if they don't then it is indeed a total waste.

maybe they'll start by bundling existing Physx hardware with their cards as a "extra" (there must be a ton spare in a warehouse somewhere gathering dust), then put the chip on-board when they can get the tech right.... maybe even getting it on-die in the GPU eventualy, if that is even possible?

i must admit, you have to love the spin though:

"the industry leader in gaming physics technology"
"AGEIA's PhysX software is widely adopted"
"AGEIA physics software is pervasive"

talk about marketing BS.....
