Ive been reading a lot about the intel chipsets, but know nothing about the Nvidia one's since my Nforce Board listed below. Whats are the current Chipsets like 6 & 7 Series and anything to be aware of ?

Thanks

The nvidia chipset boards, particularly the 680i. can be somewhat problematic. I had one and it was ok for clocking a dual core but a no no with a quad. The northbridge gets seriously toasty on them as well. Mine packed in after 11 months due to a memory controller failure.

Yeah, they tend to be a mixed bag. My 680i is fine and has been (touch wood) very reliable. However a friend of mine has been through 3-4 of them.

Personally I would go intel next time, plenty of choice with each chipset. For the same money as my 680i (at the time) I could have got a P965, then a P35/45 later on.

i ran an nvidia board for a bit and quite liked it - i swapped it out as i found it problematic when it came to stability

im really happy with my p45 board

[and my £25 cpu]
