I've been told to go to this classic control panel after enabling the Max Frames to Render Ahead option in nvTweak. However I don't see this classic option anywhere. Any ideas? I'm using Forceware 162.18. Thanks.

The Classic CP is no longer used mate. It uses the new fancy CP. It can however, be re-enabled via a registry tweak (google should bring this up for you). But if you do use the old CP you do miss out on some of the newer options and features. :)

I've posted about this many times, unfortunately search is disabled for us peons so I can't dig up the link.

Google is your best bet, make sure you set the reg entry numbers from 1 (new cp) to 3 (old and new cp)

Any new Nvidia driver, add Classic CP, use NVTWEAK to unhide all advanced settings.

http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=911 < Pretty old, still works but is avail as part of another Nvidia tool, cant remember which).

Ok you want Classic CP.

Cut and paste the following block of text From the W in windows down to
the last 1 in the Taskbar UI policy. Then save the file as a .REG file.
Either double click the REG file or right click and MERGE it with your
registry.

You should then be able to use the classic panel again!

Search for this key, and change the Value to what you want :-

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIACorporation\Glob al\NvCplApi\Policies and edit the ContextUIPolicy DWORD value.

The values are :-

1 for the old Control Panel
2 for the new Control Panel
3 to use both Control Panels

Hi.

I've just tried this and re-started. And the "standard" option is still "greyed out" (IE. you can't selecet it).

Running version 162.18

Do the way I suggested and make sure you have no APPS protecting the Registry, your actually adding a new REG entry not changing one.

It works for me on any recent drivers.

Isn't there a program that lets you select the old classic CP as well, something like Nv Tray.

I think some APP's did but not on all new drivers, now 100% on it to be truthfull, but its BS that some drivers cant have the CP as some peeps on forums claim.

Thanks guys - I used helmutcheese's method, but with ContextUIPolicy set to 3 so it shows both classic and new. Question though; in the classic view some of the game specific settings I have in the new cp don't show. Will the settings still work?

The one you mentioned (nvtweak - comes with nvtray) still works for all the latest drivers and has worked on all the drivers I've tried going back to the 90s when I rejoined the green camp from the red brigade .

Although it hasn't been updated in a few months and no guarantees how long it'll keep working.
