Nvidia considering price cut

Yeah. Just rumours. Although I expect them all to drop by 50£ with a few months.

The article is right though. Rip off Britain!

970 can't really move atm but you might see a small movement. I doubt you'll be seeing £200 970's though

Hmm...had just made my mind up to buy a 980Ti tonight, wondering whether I should now wait and see if this plays out?

I doubt NVIDIA will make any price move, as far as they are concerned Ti is faster, has more VRAM so why would they need to price themselves below AMD?

You also might want to compare OcUK prices to competitors, we are selling Ti from £509.99 until next Wednesday, whereas majority of our competitors are above £550 or higher and have hardly any stock or none.

OcUK has:
Largest range of 980Ti products
Most exclusives, G1, Inno3D, Galax, EVGA 4993-KR
Lowest prices in stock
Was first UK Reseller at £499 last weekend
Most in stock models of 980Ti

In short OcUK has kicked ass and chewed gum. :)

Haha don't worry Gibbo, the place where I buy the 980Ti is not in question, the timing of it is however!

I did come up with that reasoning too: why would nVidia drop prices when they have just released what may be one of the best selling/most impressive flagships in years? Can't find a reason for that which is why i'm leaning towards buying one.

They may drop the price if the voltage unlock & windows 10 yield good results (well more for AMD), but it's currently unknown.

I do expect prices to shift in a month or so.

How much would guesstimate they go down by? I've been out of the loop for a while, still rocking SLI 460s so haven't kept up with GPU release/price patterns for a while!

No one but nvidia knows the economics behind it. If they sell 20k cards at £550, they might sell 60k at £475 and make more profit overall.

As it happens I don't think the ti is especially overpriced given that it's a good product. Would like to see prices drop a bit on some of the aftermarket ones, but when they are 20pc faster than reference I can see the justification.

It's the aftermarket ones I expect to see the reduction in, I'd wager they will go sub £600 all of them if the Fury X shines with OC/Win10 love, perhaps further.

Yeah I completely understand - I may just go for it, as I'm starting a new job in September and so have a lot of time till then - waiting for the prices to drop would just be using up valuable game playing time before I start work. Also if I have to deal with the noise/heat of my 460s any more I might not make it to September anyway.

Gibbo it says on the Gigabyte G1 page that there are more coming in tomorrow, is this correct?

I know stock will be limited, we don't try to compete on limited stock as we will sell everything we get. You can also bet OcUK will be one of the first UK stockist of Strix. :)

Also it is not £540 it is £640 from a uk competitor and I know I'll get stock before them.

I hope so because they are expecting theirs at the same time or sooner!

Well it is clear who gets stock first and more of it. :)

Do they have MSI gaming in stock? No!
Do they have Zotac AMP in stock? No!
Do they have EVGA ACX 2.0 in stock? No!
Do they have cards from £509.99? No!
Do they have any exclusives? No!

We have all the above, they have none.

Were the far more powerful store with better buying power, we will be first, we will get more always the case. :)

Then we have these forums where you can talk to staff and get help 24/7 :)
