In order to get the best performance from my 9800 GTX+ I'm trying to set my Nvidia graphics card settings like below:

However when I go to the Nvidia Control Panel I can't see any of those settings even in advanced mode

I'm running a recent driver (below):

Is there anything that I'm doing wrong?
My last graphics card was ATI and I haven't used a Nvidia graphics card for around 5 years hence the confusion.

I want to play some oldish games on my new setup as my old Barton 3000+ processor and X850 couldn't really cut it with everything graphical on full.

Also am I right in thinking that there's little or no disadvantage in having PhysX left at the (default) disabled setting because only modern games take advantage of this feature and it uses up CPU cycles when it's running?

Thanks.

p.s. all those settings that I'm looking for were all present when using Catalyst drivers for my old X850 so I can't understand why they aren't available now on a newer card

Heres a shot of mine, can change them all in the "manage 3D settings" tab.

If you cant see this tab on yours, try going to view on the toolbar and seeing if theres an option for standard or advanced settings. Maybe you just need to switch it too advanced?

Hope this helps :)

Thanks for the hints guys :)

I didn't even know that you could override the application setting i.e. on some old games, even if you select 16xAA (anti-aliasing), sometimes it doesn't work but now that I've selected the override option, anti-aliasing works although there are still some jaggies but nothing like as bad as before.

One thing that I've noticed is that after you shut down the Nvidia control panel and re-open it again, the program settings disappear

I cant help with that, mine does the same. A quick look through the Nvidia help file thouh finds this:

"You can use the following menus from the menu bar to perform tasks in the NVIDIA Control Panel.

File
Edit
View
Profiles
Display
Help

Note: Menus that are available on the menu bar may vary, depending on the NVIDIA Control Panel category (such as, Display, Mobile, 3D Settings, or other category) you are using."

As you can see from my screenshot Im missing profiles and display from mine. Profiles is the one need to save/load settings. If youve got it on yours, you'll bee fine. If your like me... Ive no idea sorry! Seems a bit wierd not including that in all versions, I thought it would be a pretty standard feature.
