Nvidia Cuda encoding no faster on 3080ti ?

Just upgraded to a 3080Ti from 1080Ti and expected much faster Nvidia H.265 Cuda encoding when converting videos ?. Tried both DVD fab and Handbrake. Yes latest Nvida driver.

I'd expect the card to be very busy and hot too yet the thing seems to be almost idling !. Currently encoding a 4k video at around 80fps.

Thoughts ?
 
Pretty sure this is normal, nvenc encoding is done using the dedicated chip and therefore doesn't put significant load on the GPU. As far as I know all of the turing/ampere cards use the same 7th gen chip, so for example even the GeForce GTX 1650 super would have the exact same nvenc encoding speed as the 3090 ti (for direct encodes, if it was for compositing multiple scenes the 3090ti would be faster). While your 1080 Ti did use the older 6th generation chip the main difference between the 6th/7th generation was the increased quality produced at a given bitrate rather than a faster encode time.

That's a shame !, they could have increased the speed for us or used the main core.
