Nvidia Driver Crash Misery

I'm getting the dreaded Nvidia display driver has stopped working and recovered errors since installing my 980ti x2.

I have tried reseating the cards, switching them around, new sli bridge, the TdrDelay trick in the registry, completely uninstalled the drivers (using display driver uninstaller from guru 3d) and reinstalled latest drivers, removed the afterburner and riva server utilities, underclocked the cards, disabled and enabled iGPU.

None of that has worked, does anyone have any suggestions?

Crashes are occuring in Far Cry 4, The Witcher 3 and also whilst running in 2d mode at the desktop with just a browser open

For witcher 3 make sure fps is unlimited and power mode in the nvidia control panel is set for maximum performance and nit adaptive. This has made things much better in witcher 3

Im convinced the problem is the voltage control in the driver/on the cards.
