I have a friends pc here, the display driver wont install, it's an nvidia gefore 8600gs.
I have completely uninstalled the remains of the old drivers, using ccleaner, drive sweeper and uninstalled the lot via device manager. Removed all traces of the driver and nvidia files.
I proceed to install it as a fresh installation and select custom install, select clean install. It installed ok untill I restart the machine, I am then presented with the boot loader then nothing but black. The monitor is still receiving a signal however, just no display. I thought it may have switched to a res my monitor couldn't support, so tried it on a couple... no avail.
So is there anything else I can try without doing a fresh install of windows. It's currently running Vista which I blame 100%.
The only way I can get back into the desktop is to either boot into safe mode and uninstall the driver or select, "last known good config...."
Any clever cookies out there got any suggestions
