NVidia Driver issues

All,

Been having a recurring problem recently with Nvidia drivers on Vista Ultimate.

Basically when I play games it seems to cut the edges of the picture/screen, as if it is a 4:3 aspect ratio monitor? It only happens whilst playing games.

I am now running driver version 163.99 (latest), but have tried 163.67, 163.44 and others...

I am running Vista Ultimate on a Dell 2407WFP Widescreen panel with a BFG 8800GTS 640 OC.

Am I missing something in the settings? Or is this an issue? Anyone know a workaround for this?

TIA.

Sounds like you are not running in native resolution for your panel and your card is not scaling or it is using a fixed aspect ratio and you get the black border. You need to either play at your native res (1900x1200 i think) or change the scaling options.

Open the NVidia control panel and move down to Change flat panel scaling.
It will be set to either Nvidia scaling with fixed aspect ratio or no scaling.

You want to select either of the other 2 options. Use nvidia scaling or Use monitor scaling. This will stretch the image to fit the screen but some graphics may seem stretched and distorted.

Not sure what the scaling on your monitor is like so just try them both and pick the best one.

Ahhh cool- tried that and it has worked....native resolution is 1920x1200, why do I now have to alter that?

I have changed it to use Nvidia scaling; is that the correct option to use? Strange that I never used to have to set this setting, now I have to change it.

Thx anyways for the tip!

Not sure why it randomly changed. When I upgraded to the newest WHQL drivers from Nvidia it automatically took scaling off and set fixed aspect ratio. Dont know why but it was like that by default.

Nvidia scaling is fine. The scaling scaling on your monitor should be fine alsoe but it will be fine at what you have set it to.
