Hi

Ive noticed that when i play Left 4 Dead, some of the levels glitch at certain points and make the screen near black and white, and unplayable. (Other games are fine, and half of the Left 4 Dead levels work perfectly for as long as i want to play them. Ive got an Evesham Voyager laptop with a 7800gtx card. I thought this might be due to old drivers or something.

Firstly, how do i find out what version the current drivers are?

Secondly, can someone point me in the right direction to getting the latest ones for my card.

I have gone to the Nvidia site, and chosen the notebook 7800gtx GO card and downloaded the one it took me to and it said, "setup cannot find any supported hardware" or something similar, and wouldn't install. I then tried the automatic system scanner, which gives me a different driver, and the same message comes up.

Any ideas, or links to other drivers to try? Could it be possible that i have the latest drivers already?

Thanks in advance.

google for laptop nvidia drivers. There you will be able to download a drvier version + an ini file. Put the ini file in the folder that you extract the nvidia driver to (replacing the normal one). It will then pick up your card and allow you to install the desktop driver set (work fine with laptop cards)

The reason for this is that nvidia doesnt include its laptop model cards in the "list" of support cards by the driver, as you are supposed to wait until your manufacturer bothers to sign off on a driver set.

Ive just done it from the site you provided.

It installed perfectly and made me restart my computer.

Im now stuck in 800x600 resolution and 4 bit color, instead of 1650x1050 (or something close) It wont let me change the res or color settings.

How do i get rid of this driver?

This is the one i downloaded.

I just filtered drivers by Windows XP 32bit and got the top result (most recent by the looks of it)

I just installed a previous version from the same site, and windows wouldn't even start with the new settings.

I re-installed the drivers from the 3 year old CD that came with the laptop and its back to how it was now.

I think i will just stick with it like this for now... :p
