Hi, im new here so hello and all that :)

anyways...

Ive been having problems with the latest nvidia driver since i installed more ram. i have ran memtest86 for 4 hours and that says i have 0 errors so i dont think its the ram.
If i uninstall the driver it works fine and i get no errors or blue screens but then i cant play games so that is of no use to me.
The problem happens on startup until it either blue screen crashes or reports that the driver has recovered, but then starts again if i open any 3d app or full screen game.

I was thinking that maybe since i installed the new ram i have gone over my PSU's output range and the card no longer has the wattage needed to function fully but i dont know if that could be the case since it runs fine on the windows pre-installed driver.

Any ideas?
 
Either take a few ram modules out and test with the latest drivers, if all is fine then maybe you have psu issues. What are your system specs? psu wattage, gpu etc etc.

Secondly, download the drivers before the very latest and test with those with your full system, if all is fine then it is a driver issue for sure.

DriverSweeper is often recommended for erasing useless drivers and what not, make sure you uninstall your current nvidia drivers before installing new ones to avoid conflict.
 
Cheers, will try taking out the ram and see what that does.

Im using a fairly old PNY 7300GS and my PSU is a 300w i think(its an old budget build). i have tried looking for the one before latest driver but couldnt find it anywhere and after fully uninstalling the driver i cant even do a rollback to see if that fixes it.

I need to upgrade my stuff anyway so i will probably go buy a new one soon.
 
ok, so i figured the problem out... kind of :S

The problem seems to have been caused by windows downloading the wrong driver or nvidia telling windows i need a driver that i dont or the fact that windows was downloading the driver but not the updated nvidia software that is used to control the video settings...

anyway it is working at the moment (fingers crossed) but i will still need to do more tests to be sure.
