So the new 2080ti driver will not install with my tweaked and old pre creator update and maybe rtx version of win10. But the creator tool will not run to let me make a iso or usb file.

The worst is i lost my win10 dvd and the bloody.dvd burner is sticking because it does jam sometimes and i guess being idle for a few months screwed it.

What the hell do i do? I only have my win10 key, Where or how would i get the win10 usb file or how would i set it up on a usb pen without the wizard? Im really screwed for today it seems?

You do a refresh/reinstall from within windows itself.

Open the Settings app (the cog icon in the Start menu), then click on Update & Security. Click on Recovery, and then you can use the 'Reset this PC' option. This will give you the choice of whether to keep your files and programs or not.

Whay concerns me is if it breaks windows. I made some progress i managed to download the ISO but the dvd drive is jammed. So if i could somehow grab the usb win 10 file i could put that on a usb 8gb and format now.

But the creation tool bugs, Either iso or usb it wont work at all. Is there a way to get the usb file online safely? :(

Sorry for the double post, The file i got eventually from emulation methods was the iso. So i have a usb drive is it safe to put the iso they gave me direct to usb that way and format?

I never used a usb to format, So if i need to make changes to the drive, Make it bootable i need to do this before i format as i will not be able to get back on. Thanks by the way.

Go to MS and make a new disk from a working PC - this time use a usb key version.

Does that not clone my install though? My install was old and pre creators i think it was before RTX so it was bad i disabled so much stuff i basically removed windows update so maybe that is why the media creation tool never worked.

What i did was tell chrome to emulate as a Blackberry BB10 then they gave the link for a 5.5 Oct 2019 iso at 5.5gb. So i think as Opeth said above the correct thing now is go buy a 8gb USB which i just did and use rufus. I guess tomorrow i will do the rufus method i think i bookmarked the guide about what file system is needs to be. What i am grr about is my BD burner is jammed shut and USB is basically the only way forward now i have no physial media drive.

Doesnt make it clear whether you want to do a fresh install or not.
You can only do a fresh install from a USB. This will wipe out all your settings/program associations and install a new Windows 10.
To try and upgrade Windows 10 to keep your settings etc you have to do it from a Windows desktop. ie download iso using media creation tool, then extract ISO to a folder then run setup.
However I was under impression you cant update Creators to Retail only way is to do a fresh install.
So USB is the only way to go.

Oh sorry i always do a fresh clean install, And loads of minimalizing i now also get all the lovely intel security patches to bring my performance down a few percent yay.

Just use the media creation tool on another box that runs it to create a bootable usb install - it takes only a few mins depending on internet speed.

No other box here, I am just going to use the iso on rufus and replace the lost disc with the sandisk pen i went to Argos for last night. Hopefully all will be well and sorted by tommorrow.
