Can someone please help me with something that annoys me with every new nvidia gpu driver update.

I use the onboard soundcard from my Z270 ROG MB and 5.1 speakers, but every time a gpu driver update comes along, it defaults my sound to use the monitor speakers.

Easily fixed and I then "Disable" the monitor sound so they dont show up on my list (Speakers / headphones).
However, to do this every time nvidia rolls out an update is just annoying.

Anyone know why it does this and how it can be prevented.

Next time you install your nvidia drivers do a custom install and untick the audio drivers from the list.

I always do this as i have no use for the 3D drivers that are bundled with the updates so i custom install and untick the drivers i dont need.

I untick the drivers but I still have to disable the monitor speakers after reboot. Tbh I'm that used to it now I just put up with it, only takes 2 secs to sort.

I have this issue but it occurs at random without a driver update, it keeps enabling the monitor speakers occasionally. I need the drivers installed for HDMI. Not a big issue but irritating.
