Nvidia Drivers being a pain!

Hey Guys,

I recently purchased Far Cry 2, and was prompted to update graphics drivers, so I did, downloaded version 178.24 from the geforce website for my 8800GTX.

Started playing for a few hours fine, then went to play something else, played that for a few hours and then suddely both my screens went black and a few seconds later, blue screen error and restart.

These things happen, but it seems to happen now maybe once/twice a day at completel random moments of a game.

I get the usual rubbish from Vista:

"This problem was caused by NVIDIA Graphics Driver, which was created by NVIDIA Corporation. There is no solution for this problem at this time."

I decided to uninstall the new drivers and revert back to the version I was using 175.19 as I used this version before and knew it was reliable, but now I'm getting the same messages even with my old drivers (I was never getting these problems before).

It's frustrating that I upgrade to a tried and tested new and cleaner version when in fact all it has done has made it worse...

What do you guys suggest? I hate playing games knowing the fact it might randomly cut out and reset, really annoying when everything has been working so crisply for the past year or so...

I'm using two mointors, one 1920 x 1200 and the other 1680 x 1050. 4gig ram, Intel QuadQ6600, Geforce 8800GTX.

Is this a common problem others have been experiencing or what?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers.
