Hi all,

Given recent events with Nvidia drivers. Is it OK to upgrade my drivers today?

Planning to SLI as of tomorrow and wanted to update drivers, bench current setup today and then again after installing the 2nd card :)

My main reason for upgrading is this error when trying to load 3d Mark:

Unexpected error running tests.
Workload Single init returned error message: DXGI call IDXGIOutput::GetDisplayModeList failed [-2005270494]:

The requested functionality is not supported by the device or the driver.

DXGI_ERROR_NOT_CURRENTLY_AVAILABLE

Thanks,

G

I'd avoid anything newer than 320.00 atm.
Currently on theese, but had a load of issues with 314.22. A few crashes whilst running heaven 4 with 320.00 and the cards oc'd, but thats probably down to my second 670 not being much of a clocker. Fine at stock in games/benches.

been using latest 320.18 since they came out without any problems.

Then again I dont play BF3 or Assassin Creed where most of the complaints seem to have come from.

Plus they are still on Nvidia website to download.

Last lot of drivers a long while ago that had a faulty fan settings or whatever caused the issue were pulled from nvidia's website. These have been there since 23 May so make of that as you will.

Yeah not sure what to make of that, in the past drivers with serious issues have been pulled almost the moment nVidia were made aware of the problem.

I installed 320.00 and now 3DMark works :)

No idea if 20550 is a good score though! lol

Just want to see how it improves when I shove the 2nd 570 in :)

I had issues with 320.18 and BF3 - artifacts and rainbow textures all over the place, only ever happened after playing for an hour or so though which is odd.

Rolled back to 314.07 and been fine since.

1) Please if possible email me a copy of your VBIOS to [email protected]. Include your graphics cards make and model (and if possible the in game graphic settings used and any changes in the NVIDIA Control Panel you have used and screen resolution and refresh rate)

2) If you are located in the USA, if you would be willing to mail us your graphics card so that we can try to reproduce this locally, we would pay for shipping both ways and also provide you with a loaner graphics card while we test your issue.

3) If by chance you live close to Santa Clara and would be willing to bring in your system to Santa Clara and show us the corruption reproduce with R320.18 but not with driver R314.22, that would be the best option for us if possible. We would compensate you with a graphics card upgrade.

We are getting a couple of loaner boards from users in next couple of days. Our goal is to address this, Assassin's Creed 3 and the Battlefield 3 issue and then release a driver with these fixes. For more advanced users experiencing system crashes after updating to driver R320.18, especially on desktop or while browsing Firefox, it would be helpful if you could provide us with mini-dmp file from your system. Instructions are available from Microsoft below:

You can email the mini dump files to me at [email protected]

Please include in description what apps you were running when this occurred, OS and graphics card used. Thank you all for your patience and your feedback. We hope to have fixes for these very soon.

Yeh they are pretty bad, i'd hate to think what these drivers are doing to peoples systems even when claimed to be working fine by some! :(

That is some pretty impressive customer service :) I haven't had any issue with the new drivers but if I had it would be reassuring to know they were on the case and doing everything possible to sort it. By comparison the major factor in me deciding to ditch my HD7950b in favor of a GTX670 was the fact AMD knew full well about the issues with the HD9700 drivers causing lockups in WoW but refused to even acknowledge it or give any impression they cared/were working on it.

Why do you have to keep citing your problems with AMD? there are GPU users here who have had issues with Nvidia's drivers but they don't bang on about it for months on end comparing it to AMD and saying how wonderful they are at every available opportunity.
