Nvidia drivers wont load

Hi all

I've put this question on another part of the forum, but on reflection this might be a better place.

After recently destroying my i7 build (long story!) yesterday I installed a few new components -

Maximus Ranger V11 motherboard and a i5 Haswell CPU, onto which I put my Corsair Vengeance ram and my MSI GTX760.

I did a fresh install of Windows 7, then installed the motherboard drivers. Then I wanted the video drivers, so downloaded the latest offerings and tried to install. It said something along the lines of "no Nvidia product on your pc", and refused to install. So I checked device manager etc, and there was nothing there, just "generic video adaptor" or something like that.

I installed the rest on Win7 - SP1 followed by 150 or so updates, and hey presto Windows have installed a (old) driver for the card. So I can use it, however the newer driver, that I want, that refuses to install. I've downloaded and tried a couple of other versions, but always it says it sees no Nvidia product, despite Win7 now showing it in Device Manager etc.

Sorry for my long winded post, but ... any ideas, anyone?

Many thanks!

You need another part of Windows updates installed but can't for the life of me remember what it is. .net framework or something like that.
