Nvidia - FreeSync on laptop?

Thinking of replacing my Dell 7559 (i7 6700HQ 4c8t, 960m) with a Dell G3 (i7 8750HQ 6c12t,1060 Max Q) but the latter doesn't have GSync. Really want some sort of VRR.

Am I right in thinking Freesync can be forced on? Anyone try this with a laptop?

My current laptop uses GSYNC on my freesync monitor

This is on a digital out like HDMI? Is the built in screen GSync? If it's not, does FreeSync work?
