Evolve is developed by the same studio that originally invented the popular Left 4 Dead, which is particularly noticeable on large coop focus. Aged graphics engine Source, however, scrapped for much more modern CryEngine 4, known from Ryse and upcoming Star Citizen.
Despite this, the game is relatively easy run, even when controls turned up to max. Anyone who is willing to compromise on image quality can easily be dragging around Evolve on a graphics card in the middle class, and a faster version can handle 60 fps in most situations.
Evolve
Otherwise feels Evolve after the daily fresh update fairly well polished, especially set against the wretched launch standard for many titles. The game does not crash during vBulletin tests and offer nor on some serious weirdness.
The frame rate is consistent with generally good render times, and subjective, few unexpected performance dips. The exception is possibly the GeForce-based graphics cards perform worse than expected, especially considering that it is about a Gameworks title. There may be some hidden bug or other hassles that can be addressed going forward.
On the whole, however, the eager monster hunter is not really very technical which prevents further adventures. Load the gun, gillra traps and get out on Goliath-hunting!
So another GameWorks title and another game that runs well on AMD. Good to see that a company "can" use GameWorks and get it running well on AMD.
