Considering that a similar 22" Samsung screen like Samsung SM2233BW could be had for £165, presume 120Hz Samsung SM2233RZ screen alone would cost around £200-220.

The remaining £200 of this bundle goes to glasses, which is a ridiculous cost for the piece of plastic that only shutters one eye at a time.

According to the reviews, however, the technology works quite well and Left4Dead looks amazing! I might consider buying this when they come up with a larger scree though.

Is the screen anything special to make it work? Apart from the 120hz refresh rate ofcourse! I dont really understand this 3d technology! :p

Awesomeness ! :D

Thanks for getting stock, and organising a price which is actually cheaper than a $-£ conversion !! - spot on :)

- Doh... just noticed it's not yet available... - Card goes back into pocket.. card comes back out again.. argh.. cant resist.

Cheeky Slackworth, getting me all excited... 2 weeks! - heh guess you had to respond to competitors doing the same trick :)

The screen costs quite a bit more than £220. Samsung have just hiked all their prices up on the existing models so they're going to be increasing too.

The NDA was lifted by Nvidia today actually which is why we launched. :)

Hmm... Not sure what to say really, £400 on a pair of glasses and a monitor is expensive, but does look promising and much more effective. But, I think I'm gonna wait for 24in+ models to arrive berfore shelling out on a monitor the same size as the one I currently have tho...

As far as I understand we'll be waiting a fair bit of time for the 24"+ models.
I'll try to come back and edit this to provide the exact facts/details, but it goes along the lines of this.
There are 2 stumbling blocks.

1) Some idiots made a new cable standard for monitors called DVI a few years back. It has a limited bandwidth, and cant do the same high resolutions/frequencies as the old VGA.
So if you have a monitor that has a high resolution, or that requires 120Hz you need a dual dvi cable. If you want a high resolution and 120hz you'll need a quad dvi cable... - (they don't exist and would be silly too).

A new system called display port is out with higher bandwidth - but not widely adapted by monitors or gfx cards. And I think only the upcoming Version2 of it will have enough bandwidth...

2)Ramdac's on videocards - Even back in the crt days you could either have a moderate resolution with a very high refresh, or high resolution with a lower than 120hz refresh.
This is mainly down to the ramdac's of our video cards being limited to 400hz.
I think some specialist matrox 2D cards can go higher. but the 400hz appears to be a limitation of both Nvidia and ATI cards at present. They just cant output high res at a high refresh.

Solutions..
In the usa, they have large 40-80" LED/Laser DLP's from samsung and Mitsubishi which run high res and are 120hz. They achieve this by using a interlacing method, but instead of line by line as what we normally see interlacing as, its a alternating chessboard/chequered method, which apparently doesn't degrade the image as conventional interlacing does.
They also cost Lots, are not available in the UK/Europe. (well the Mitsubishi is at 8k)

Projectors are also a option, but are also very expensive for a true 120hz version.

Where'd you get that from? Perhaps VGA can output higher frequencies than DVI, but that would only be because they use a much lower colour palette. Digital is superior to analogue in almost every way, and if DVI and VGA were to transfer the exact same image resolution and the exact same number of colours, DVI would achieve higher frequencies (assuming the two could be compared).

What a nice change to see dollars properly converted into pounds :)

I would like to wait for a larger screen - but I think it will be rather a long wait, so I might just squeeze the trigger on this one :D

I agree digital is the future, the vga connection sure has had a good life, it's time is drawing to a end. 20+ years being able to for fill peoples needs was a good design, rare in the pc world.

The point I was getting at, was that when deciding on the dvi standard, they chose poorly and adopted the bare minimum, resulting in no room for expansion with future screens. (it wasn't hard to guess people would want high res + high refresh) Hence why displayport will probably be replacing dvi in the future.

Ah, I see what you meant now. Now I do agree with that. DVI could have been much better, and I hope companies do start to adopt DisplayPort. Not only does it not require royalties to use, like HDMI does (saving money), but it has better bandwidth and, I think, is in a slightly smaller connector. The only thing it's missing is the screws to hold it in (well, apart from even more bandwidth), and they aren't essential.

Technology has been around for ages, this is nothing new. Total waste of money.

Have you actually seen the new Nvidia technology? While it may have been rubbish in the past that doesn't mean they can't improve it in the future.

Crept up a pound already ~ sneeky. You gettin plenty stock in? Also if I pre order would it be shipped before launch to be here next friday or monday following..?

Fixed. That was a minor system problem. :) The stock will be arriving week commencing 1st May so will ship ASAP.

 it looked very good on some games that were designed for it back in geforce 3 days. would love to see what this looks like. you do need a 120mhz screen though as this halves your refresh rate.

Looks like we will soon see a massive advance in 3d screens. As a fair few companies are researching and a few have stuff on the market already.

It still says pre-order?

Has there been any stock yet? I want to go back to stereoscoping gaming badly, ( I used to own the e-dimensional glasses years ago).

But I don't want to pre-order... I want to order :P.
