hi,

I used to play cod2 online wivout any issues...

I can still play it however I noticed when I shoot there is a slight delay sometimes which means i get my ass whooped...

my card is not overclocked...

I have a feeling its something in the bios....

I have an asus a8v mobo and I am running bios 1007 I cant upgrade it as I do not have a floppy...

Any ideas what is causing this slight delay?

Bios settings are:

Primary graphics adapter - AGP
search for mda resources - yes
vlink 8x supported - enabled
agp mode 4x (before I could get 8x but its disappeared?)
agp fast write - enabled
graphics aperture - 128
agp 3.0 calibration cycled -disabled
mps revision 1.4

The Ti4600 is a 4X AGP card so there's no reason to worry about that. They did release an 8X version but it wasn't any quicker

The slight delay you describe is usually caused by high latency to the server - what is your ping?

I've only tested it with COD2 online cuz I play that game all the time. Like I said never used to happen before just recently....

Driver version : 8.4.2.1 (which I believe is the latest?)

I have not changed the settings at all....

My ping is around mid 40's early 50's

I cant help thinking its something in the bios (which I just flashed to version 1017 )

any ideas?

Fast Writes improve the performance of your PC by allowing the computer to send video-based calls directly to the video card, thereby bypassing the system's main memory system. It can make a difference of about 1-5%

They can sometimes cause odd problems like the one you describe though

Have you changed anything before it started? Have you tried shutting down all of your background tasks?

I disable fast write....

Still no joy...

Well I loaded defaults in bios cuz I was overclocking the cpu....

The problem started from then therefore thats why I think its something in the bios...

the two main problems are:

1) a slight delay (SOMETIMES) before shooting
2) when i shoot it sticks, so I empty the entire magazine, I can stop that by clicking again but thats not the point...

any ideas?

Restoring the BIOS to defaults should have put it back to how it was before. As this hasn't solved the problem I wonder if it's something else

Have you tried running an anti-spyware and anti-virus scan?

hmmmmm its a long shot but I have the scanner on the go atm.....

I still think its something to do with the Bios...

I do really appreciate your help tho and am interested to hear of any other ideas u may have?

Try flashing back to the old bios, regarding bios flashes, if it aint broke...

Did you have any luck with the Spyware/Virus scans?

When you tried loading defaults did you try loading the failsafe defaults or the optimised defaults? Have you tried loading the other set of defaults?

Does your hard drive read when the game pauses?

Did you try shutting down all of the background processes and programs?

i used to get a lot of random stuttering on a MX440 64MB, i think it's actually CPU lag, maybe created by the graphics card.

try increasing your apature size or something

i used to get slight pauses when buying weapons, suddnely starting to fire in a big gun battle etc...
