I just wanted to share the issues and solutions I find with this.
It has solved my problems for sure, after some days of net searching.

[*]I bought an MSI GTX980Ti for OC UK some months ago with a nice 4k 40 in philips display.

[*]I was running 8.1 everything went well.

[*]I moved to windows 10 after reading how to strap it down and semi control its nastiness and lack of privacy. All went well for a few months then the card started acting up.

[*]I tried reinstalling from Nvidia the current plus around 6 other legacy drivers in the despair for finding one that worked ok. No Luck.

[*]So when 365.10 came out a few days ago, I thought I'n not having this any more. At least it waorked all fine when I started using win 10 so what's going on? After several days on inaccurate 'expert' advice whci didn't work I found out whiy I could not implenemnt the newer and newest driver (365.10) for this card. Microsoft have decided that all they will distribute all drivers from ethernet cards to graphics card. They only force update your win 10 machine without checking what drivers you have and if they are better or more recent than what they think is a certified and safe (wont crash) driver.

[*]Not only that they leave a trail of .inf files lying around and other stuff.that aborts every attempt to implement a newer Nvidia driver. I am not going to comment on thje lack of corrdination with parners and the simian stupidity of this. You can find out how to do this at m.winsupersite.com. Althoug it looks like microsoft has changed the options a bit as usual. It's simple enough. This will stop Microsoft from pushing out an old Nvidia driver you dont want AND RUINING YOUR GOOD WORK

[*]Here is the solution. Get into control panel and find the option to stop microsoft pushing outdated 'safe' driver revisions onto your pc. (You would think they would be smart enough to make an exception the Graphics cars or Nvidia, but alas no).

[*]Go to guru3d.com and download DDU uitility.
[*]Just run it. It will ask if you want you to reboot in safe mode. Press that button, it's a good button. The pc will reboot and run DDU. This utility will remove all the sabotage microsoft leaves behind.

[*]Next reboot your PC and go to the Nvidia site and download the latest driver.
[*]Boob's you uncle. So now Instead of running the 'day of release' driver
[*]which microsoft imposed/borked on me without notification, I am now running a driver that Nvidia released 4 days ago.

[*]Happiness, I was going to RMA the card as the Nividia driver would not install. I hope this helps a few people and saves OC some time.

Hmm I'm not sure I have ever had a M$ enforced W10 Nvidia driver. There was a lot of chat about it prior to release but I've always updated via geforce experience.
Andi.

Yes its true and has been documented all over the place you need to turn off the option to stop Windows 10 updating your hardware drivers.
