NVIDIA GeForce GT 600 series - Basic question

Apologies for the elementary question but I've been unable to find a clear answer elsewhere.

I have two Samsung monitors equipped with DVI and VGA, currently connected (via DVI cables) to a graphics card with two DVI ports. The graphics card seems to be failing (one of the screens is now blank a lot of the time).

If I were to buy something like the KFA2 GeForce GT620, and an HDMI to DVI adapter (for use with the card's HDMI port), would I be able to connect the monitors using my DVI cables, configure the displays independently and use Windows 7's 'Multiple displays: Extend these displays' setting (to extend the Desktop across the two) as I do now please?

(Also, if so, would it actually be possible for me to have three independent displays (if I made use of the VGA port)?)

Sadly, running more than 2 displays is out of the question as the GT 620 is a rebadged GT 530. Before Kepler, a single nVidia card could only drive 2 displays.

The cheapest Kepler card would be a GT 640 (which isn't that cheap :p) or get the ATI 5450.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I can definitely run two displays independently then?

DVI -> DVI cable -> Monitor
HDMI -> HDMI to DVI adapter -> DVI cable -> Monitor
