The 980ti was a brilliant marketing move by NV. They 1st got people salivating with the tx performance and crying with its price. Lots of people couldn't afford or didn't want to pay the premium. So with the 980ti they solved the price issue in what was still a pricey card compared to other gens.

Lets be realistic here. The 1080Ti aint guna be no where near the price of the 980Ti. The Titan X (P) is £1099 ($1200) so realistically its going to be around £800 probably on the higher end of £800 on release.

980Ti on release was $649 and in the UK you could get one around £560? however the 1080 was $599 on release which is a measly $50 difference. Im guessing the 1080Ti is going to be around $849 on release. There is almost certainly going to be a £200 quid difference between the 980Ti and 1080Ti on release prices in the UK. That just a massive difference but its okay because it will be faster lol.

Titan X $1200 (£1099)
1080 $649 (£619)
1070 $449 (£399)

My assumption 1080Ti is going to be $849 to $900 (£809 to £859)

I think that price is accurate, which is a shame as the price of GPUs is vastly outpacing the price of every other PC component.

I agree the price will be obscene.

Possibly but i know i wont be jumping at the 1080Ti at that price. Shame because it was what i was looking at for a upgrade. Rather save pennies and upgrade when Volta arrives and take the plunge if prices are still Bull.. erm obscene. Trying to stick with nVidia because of the gsync monitor i forked out for

Main reason I will never buy a Gsync or Freesync monitor as it will somewhat force me to a particular brand of GPU. forget that.

I, like you are waiting for prices to be reasonable again. I won't be upgrading at these prices. If prices come down I will upgrade but if they stay ludicrous for mid/high end then I will just wave PC gaming goodbye. Hell, there is more to life.

I'm calling the Ti to be £899 - Basically £900 but without the mental £900 barrier being broken. Classic shopping tactic to get you to buy.

No chance.

The 1080s flew out of the door at more than this price and the titans at £1100 sold like hotcakes too.

Unless AMD have a faster card than a 1080 out for less money than a 1080, there is no need for Nvidia to price the 1080ti cheaper than the 1080.

Looking back at previous NVidia x80 products I don't think it will be priced as high as some are suggesting.

480 $499
580 $499

680 $500 (remember this was the first smaller core x80 card)

780 $649 (not the full chip)
780ti $699

980 $549 (again the smaller core)
980ti $649 (not the full chip)

1080 $599
1080ti $??? (not the full chip)

I reckon maybe $699 with the founders being another $80, or maybe they might stretch to $749 with the founder being slightly more.

Personally I don't think the original idea for the founders edition has worked particularly well, so I think NVidia might drop it.

I would actually probably consider $699 IF the exchange rate was a damn sight better. But it's not. It's awful.
