**Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Thread**

So what hardware does this budget gaming involve?

Lol, a Kaby Lake Pentium and a used EVGA GTX 780 Classified. Still waiting for the classy.

This is my stopgap until we either get a real jump in performance, or decently priced hardware.

I might be waiting sometime xD

No interest in my 6700K on mm so I might end up having to use it though..

Been on here 4 years and only have half the posts to get onto MM as 1000 posts in my opinion is a stupid amount. I am not sure why they decided such a high number was needed. People posting 200-300 times are already pretty committed members of the community.

^ It is a grind, took me a while to get to 1k posts. The fastest way is to keep an eye out in the sub forums you can help the most in, or alternatively GD threads.

As for the 1080Ti should it arrive at long last in March I'll be torn - I'd very much like to upgrade from a 980Ti, but how much life is Pascal likely to have almost a year after it's initial launch?

Keep posting bud, because of scammers and such, making it difficult to use the MM is perfect to keep the place running smoothly. Luckily I've not been at the mercy of rats yet but I'd rather have the peace of mind with the system as it's ran now.

There's plenty to talk about here so if someone shares a hobby or is interested in something you also are, you can build that post count up in no time.

Do you need to upgrade or do you want to?. Vega is coming soon and you have a great card to hold on to at the moment so why not just wait a while longer and see what happens?.

I'm getting by with the 980Ti, but am having to lower settings in some places. Gsync does help though as it makes lower minimums tolerable. I'm one of those people who spends ages getting the best balance of performance/quality, and I'd rather just fire up a game and get on with it hence considering more oomph to make life easier :D

I am holding on to see what happens with Vega/theoretical 1080Ti. There's no question the 1080 is poor value for a current 980Ti owner, and I am not prepared to drop £1K+ on Titan XP.

My Mrs is a gamer also and we maintain two identical PC's so any cost is doubled. The 980Tis were a originally a stop gap as we both sold our GTX 980 SLI cards due to mGPU support dwindling, and admittedly the Ti's have lasted well.

It's gonna be an absolute beast. I think Nvidia is taking extra time to polish it further to go against VEGA, as initially I think it was pegged to launch at CES. I am expecting the Ti to be a monster xD

Thing is Volta comes, next year? And that's a huge jump in performance according to the roadmaps anyway. Might be worth just waiting.

Been posting here a lot longer and don't think I've got over 300 yet! I just don't find myself wanting to contribute that often as others have usually said what I would've (e.g. like now lol).

When is the rumored Nvidia refresh supposedly happening this year?

I have a 970 at the moment and wouldn't mind getting a xx70 series card but think might as well wait for the refresh and Vega before doing anything.

Haha exactly. I pick and choose my posts a lot and I also had a year away because of other things so didn't spend as much time here. To me it just seems like a heck of a lot to post just to get there.

If I really wanted to get there sure I could post within a month enough I would think. To give an idea I posted 2000 times on the Frontier forum during the Alpha of Planet Coaster because I had something I wanted to contribute and discuss.

Which worked out at like 7 posts a day. However here there just are not the same discussions. The ones about graphics cards get so heated I never feel like getting involved normally. (the odd question or view here or there).

I don't know enough technical detail to help out a lot although enjoy reading it.

same here mate, I tend to only post if I have something of value to say

Yeah in honesty if they can see you have been actively posting over 'X' number of years and contributing I don't see how the 1000 posts really help that. Now if it was a minimum of 100 posts a year or something over 3 years or 1000 posts and 3 months I would understand that.

It allows both people who contribute a lot to be there earlier but also people who read and talk as they feel whilst being a part of the community to work their way to still being able to contribute in the members market also.

Yeah. 1080ti and/or pascal refreshes are just playing around and maybe 5% to 20% gains max.

Volta is meant to be the beast and expecting to offer a 50% gain.
