@easyrider. To be honest, the price this time will be nothing to do with technology, it's going to be exchange rate. When the 980TI came out we were at 1.50 to the pound, we are now at around 1.20 so it's going to be more than the 980TI launch it's common sense. Everything is more due to exchange rate it's as simple as that not Tech.

Just to nit pick, 980Ti launch day, Sept 2014, the exchange rate was $1.63 :O

In the US (forget the pound and the UK ) the 1080ti has to be priced between Titan and 1080

$699 1080
$1200 Titan X

1080ti will be $999

meaning about £919 over here

with price gouging...

Everyone is basing the 980 ti release effected 980 pricing etc...

Fact is the 980ti had 6GB ram so it was a different beast and cutting edge at the time....

the 1080 has 8gb of GDDRX so a ti will either have to have HBM or 12GB to make it a worthy buy ..

It can't be to close to 1080 pricing....

The 1080 cant drop too much as that will effect 1070 sales...

The 1080 can't be getting the chop as loads of new cards have just hit the market....

I'll sell my 1080 if the 1080ti is £700 but I just can't see it being that price....

You came away with all this patter when the Fury X was due for release, the "980ti killer".

Why not stop the Mystic Meg routine and just wait until next week when these things will be actual facts.

I think its pretty certain the 1080 ti will more expensive than a 1080

No what they are saying is when the 1080ti hits , 1080 pricing will be effected like the 980 and it just won't.

In fact if anything I want AMD Ryzen to kill Intel prices and Vega to kill 1080 pricing...

Ryzen looks like a a solid chip for the money...Making any offering my intel in the same same spec look laughable for what Intel are charging...

If vega is faster than 1080 I might even sell my X34 and 1080 and intel rig altogether and go AMD.

I can get 750 for my monitor easily...And can get the equivalent for Freesync superwide.

1080 prices are falling already. Gigabyte and Zotac models have went for £529.99 recently. The 1080 will be a complete irrelevance if it stays at the £650-700 mark. People spending that money will just go the extra for a 1080ti. The Titan will also become irrelevant for most people when the 1080ti releases.

The only "high end" card unaffected will be the 1070.

Exactly my Point...If the 1080 becomes £529 mainstream....Then who in their right mind would buy one? If you can get a 1080ti for £699

Either the 1080 drops sub £500 or not...Meaning the 1070 will have to drop in price.

If you can get a 1080 for £479 then why would you buy a 1070 at £379

Above 500 quid , punters just go "I'll just spend the extra...."

The point I am making is that 1080ti will be expensive...1080's wont suddenly drop massively in price like some in MM seem to think
