Depends on the titles you're wanting to play. If you give a list of games then it's easier to say for certain

Yeah I ran a 1080 for a while on a 27" 144hz 1440p monitor. However dont expect ultra settings at 144 FPS (depending on the games you want to play).

Just fine, had my 1080 paired with a 1440p 144hz display for many years. Newer titles need settings on medium/high but older stuff will run high/ultra quite happily.

Yes but as ever the performance depends on the game, settings and rest of the system.

I play quite a few games at 1440p with a laptop 1060 gpu, even play Rage 2 with it but cyberpunk would run like a dog with broken leg

yes - that's what I run - 1080GTX with a Dell S2721DGF (1440p 165Hz)

Games like World of Warships / Civ 6 run easily at 144Hz at max settings , however more modern games may need the settings reducing or accepting lower frame rates . The monitor you've linked is Gsync compatible so you should be fine
