This is interesting. It's difficult to know wherever to keep it on or not, if I get a excellent kill or do something incredible I like having a video of it. The hit does seem to be quite high.

I've found 3.0 doesn't perform so well for me - even recording to a ram drive the first 20-30 seconds can be a bit stuttery and can feel it a bit more in twitch FPS games, etc. compared to version 2 - plus with 3 intermittently had issues where key strokes weren't going through to the game properly sometimes a tiny bit delayed and sometimes the odd key press not going through at all which I assume is down to the new overlay and the origin overlay used to do similar in some of the same games.

Shadowplay is one thing I'll dearly miss if/when I switch to AMD. It's just too brilliant with such a negligible cost.

Its about the only thing from GfE I actually use - I'd happily pay just to use it separate without the rest of the junk.

Not sure if it will hold - and definitely will cause some complications on next updating - but just gone to the trouble of ripping out all the nVidia services not related to core drivers and removing the backend stuff from startup, etc. to prevent GeForce experience updating (its like a virus the way it circular reinforces its updating stuff) so hopefully I can stay on 2.0 for now until they sort the issues I've got with 3.0.

They is plenty of other excellent software out there that use AMD GPUs in the same way ;) my personal favourite is Action, but other software like OBS Studio, MSI afterburner, Dxtory and others I can't remember name right now.

You tried them? Believe me I have and Action is far superior over everything else out there. Might cost money but it's feature packed.
Action has great features, but is inconsistent and yes - costs money. Shadowplay is free and nearly as good.

You can spend more money and get even better recording software, but that kind of defeats the purpose of what's so great about Shadowplay.

Been rock solid for me, one of the only software that will even record dx12 windows store games.
Listen am not putting shadow play down its excellent and I would really like AMD to release something like it for free.

But the matter of a fact if you into recording you must spend money for better quality. Dxtory, Action And even OBS what is free offer much higher image quality and audio quality.

AMD recording is fine also with Raptr/Game DVR.Old bench from R9 290 card.
Sli/Crossfire there is a bigger hit on performance but that may just be my slow CPU it's getting old.
Single card no real performance hit also.

Yeah support on that software has been dire tbh lots off new games stopped working and even can now crash the amd driver if you have multiple overlays running.

This.

I have it running all the time, as there is some comedy/unusual things that happen in games at times and it also helped me report loads of cheaters in The Division. I would seriously miss it.

So on average a 2FPS hit, Not really that bad compared to other capture software.

The only thing I don;t like about the always on feature for the saving of xx amount of minutes is the icon in the bottom right hand corner is always there.
