Hello

Just got an XPS with one of these in it (512mb dedicated).

I know nothing about laptop graphics though, other than the obvious. What kind of performance should i be getting? will it cope well with modern-ish games?

the rest of it would be core2duo @2.1, 2gb ddr2. would be at the res of 1900x1200 (or less i guess) on the 17" screen.

thanks, as im pretty clueless with the GO series.

You will get slightly under half the performance of an 8800GTS with that card... its marginally faster than the 7900GT but not as fast as the desktop GTX.

The CPU and RAM should be upto gaming fine but your not going to be running many new games at 1900x1200 with that GTX... to give you an idea BioShock with all settings maxed at 1440x900 would be averaging 30fps and ETQW with all settings maxed at 1920x1200 would be averaging around 25fps.

1440x900 is the widescreen version of 1280x1024 and aslong as you keep the res reasonable the card will do well enough...

give 3D Marks 06 a whirl on it and see how well it does.
