Hoping that someone here can enlighten me.

As I understand it Nvidia GPUs are now capable of interfacing with Freesync monitors.

Freesync monitors seem to be substantially cheaper, so what benefit do you get from paying for a Gsync unit?

have a read of this article: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/articles/variable_refresh.htm

but in short a Native G-sync module screen can offer benefits including
  • verified/certified VRR performance
  • wider VRR range
  • better compensation at low frame rates
  • variable overdrive for better pixel response times, especially when considering performance across the refresh rate range
  • less reports of flickering in VRR situations which seems to be more common on FS screens
  • guaranteed low input lag
there are plenty of decent FreeSync screens that perform well in many of these areas, but you'd probably want to look out for a model certified as "G-sync Compatible", as those that aren't may offer variable performance.

Thanks. Had a scan at the freesync compatible, and they're not THAT much cheaper than Gsync.
Guess I need to save up for a good Gsync unit.

Depends what screen you want and size etc.

eg. 32" IPS 1440p 75mhz GSync Compatible for less than £200 ? (the one in my sig)
Plenty of other cheap Gsync Compatible screens about you need to look harder.

What is the different between G/sync and Vsync ? From my understand too get G/Sync to work you have to enable Vsync in the Nvidia control panel , Ill be honest I cant tell the difference and have no idea if its working because there is no way to check or is there ?

Also pretty much every Freesync monitor now works with G/Sync so you know ! Nvidia have just released drivers for it to work on these monitors

It shows if gsync is enabled or not in Nvidia Control Panel. Also some monitors show a different LED ie white for Gsync green for normal.

With the setup above it wont make much difference as your rig is fast enough to run games at a decent rate on 1440p.
