Yeah good call on the 460, these can be picked up for £50-£70 second hand now.

If you have a very tight budget, you should be looking in the B Grade section or looking for second hand cards. 7770 is probably the lowest card to drop to for semi decent GFX but a 470/80 is a wise buy

Send it back and get something a bit better like a 460 / 560(ti) depending on what you are happy spending. You are definitely not wrong to be disappointed if you wanted the card for gaming

I'd recommend always looking at reviews before buying a graphics card (and pretty much anything else) as the specs mean little compared to other graphics cards due to architecture/process changes.

Also that 5.3GB/s memory bandwidth can't be good. Your 9600GT probably has over ten times the bandwidth.

I'm sorry to say this, but you only have yourself to blame. Spending a few minutes on google could have avoided all this.
