Nvidia gtx 470 opinions/thoughts

As gigabyte have a uk based warranty/return service, its good for peace of mind, asus can be a bit hit and miss for customer service. Not sure what oem's the ocuk value range are. I cant see performance being effected, ill be overclocking the 470, ive only ran the 275's at stock.

Nvidia have in the recent past kinda held the high end Single GPU card performance market to themselves somewhat

While the performance of high end Nvidia cards is still very good, there's no doubt they have lost a lot of ground to ATI of late, back in the days of the 3870 ATI used a Xfire setup on a single PCB to take on Nvidia high end single GPU offerings, and the story was much the same with the 4870 being doubled up into the X2 to beat the 280GTX

I have always gone for a good single GPU card if possible as everything i have heard about dual GPU Xfire/SLI seems to indicate much bigger frame rate variences and more hassel with setups/drivers etc etc, this kinda ruled ATI out for me, but it looks like they have made massive gains on the performance of there single GPUl cards in relation to Nvidia with the there latest 5 series. The 6 series might well see them offer faster single GPU cards, which does not bode well for Nvidia IMO as ATI have always had the neater single PCB dual GPU Xfire Setups

I like my 470, and it's a good card, and the current price drops makes it pretty competitive, still i wonder what this means for the future on current form it looks like, Nvidia will soon be beaten in Single GPU, performance which in turn also means in SLI mutli GPU setups, i wonder what there plans are?

Fair enough. I think OcUK Value are dealt with OcUK under warranty period. Not sure about that but worth a web note.

I heard 6870 xfire was very close to 480 SLI?
If true I would have thought a modest overclock, would give you 480SLI performance...

How is it relevant to this thread?

so yeah, how do you get to the members market anyway?

The members market is provided as a free service to active and contributing forum members. OcUK are not liable for any deals that are done in the Members Market, you are free to buy and sell at your own risk. Please read the rules of the Members Market before you proceed to make your first sale.

Access to the Members Market forum requires two things. Firstly, you will need to have over 250 posts and have been signed up for at least 90 days. Please note that this does not mean you spam the forums simply to increase your posts, as this action will result in posts being deducted, and if you continue this behaviour, your account will eventually be banned/suspended. Once you reach 250 posts, you will need to activate your trust. This is either found in your UserCP, or you can press the trust button that appears at the bottom of all your posts.

Once you satisfy both of these criteria, Members Market access will be granted within 24hrs. Please do not post on the forums asking why you cannot access the members market, if you have any queries, email one of the forum Dons/Admins. The contact addresses are available in the FAQ. There is no buying, or selling allowed outside of the Members Market.
