NVIDIA GTX 970 OWNERS THREAD

It doesn't get hot enough to even go that high dude... I'll warm it up later and see what it does.

Cheers mate.

there's definitely something not right here. With the fan at 100% it gets to 80° within a few secs of starting a game or benchmark.

Gutted because just like you were Im stuck at about 1440mhz and was hoping the jetstream bios would get me close to 1500 :(

Just set max RPM on my second card that isn't flashed..yet and it maxed out at 4300rpm

What does you card hit in GPU-Z when set to max RPM?

4300rpm on the old bios but it wont go above 2300rpm on the jetstream. Ive tried reflashing and reinstalling the drivers, tried other programs other than Afterburner but it just wont go over 2300rpm

I've just been reading Gibbos mini reviews of the 9xxx series of GPU's and the GALAX 970 EX OC has caught my attention, mainly because Gibbo didn't list any minus points, other than it having a blue PCB.

Has anyone actually bought one of these and would be willing to post a more indepth review, please?

I tried uninstalling then installing it again, tried Evga Precision but exactly the same.

Looks like Im just going to have to wait for a custom bios to come out (if one does)

Thanks for the replies though buddy. Appreciate it.

Do you want me to send you a stock BIOS from my cards for you to try just incase your backup copy is dodgey?

Here is my 970 Gaming. Apart from Shadow of Mordor I see no difference in game between this and my 980.

What 980 did you own previously and why did you downgrade to the 970?

I'm debating about whether to go with a 980. I would prefer one fast card over 2 in SLI due to heat/noise/bugs, but don't know if the 980 is worth it if one 970 would suffice.

I have to admit to being pretty impressed by the Asus GeForce GTX 970 as its overclocked by default and silent. So far the fans have not even started to spin yet.

I still have the 980 it is a reference card by MSI.

Tbh gaming at 1440p 60Hz I cannot see any difference between the 980 & 970.

Just re-installed the original Crysis again for the lulz. Set it to 1920x1200 with 4xAA and all graphics settings on Very High and the 970 basically laughed at it. Noise levels from the card barely rose at all either :)

just installed AI Suite to update my bios... wow that was some nightmare.

now i think im all ready for my gpu to get here, damn wish it would hurry up :(

Ok so is this the monitor at fault or the GPU(s)

Note the bright part in the desktop pic pulsing next to the HP UPDATE box, that's not the camera moving.

And at the end when looking at taskbar you can see the horizontal line of pixels pulsing.

I am still getting this problem intermittently and have swapped the GPUs around.

Only thing to try next is put a 680 back in and see if it does it.

Right now it's gone but it can come back whenever.

I am tempted to think its a 9 series driver issue

Jesus H. Christ.

So I replaced my 670 DirectCU II SLI with 970 Strix, fired up Heaven and guess what. It whines likes crazy.

I was benchmarking both Direct CU II's for good half a day yesterday (so I can compare gains/loses vs 970) and they are absolutely quiet, yet 970 is buzzing all the time.

It surely is going back, now what do I do. Replacement and give it 1 more chance? or refund straightaway.

I've also ordered G1 in the meantime, that should be with me next week...

here's a video:

most noticeable from 00:31 onwards. All system fans were disabled, except for GPU. I guess I held the phone too close to spinning fans, so there is some background noise. Whine is still clearly noticeable though.
