NVIDIA GTX 970 OWNERS THREAD

You'll just get palmed off with the same excuse that it's normal for a "high end GPU to whine", and only under extreme circumstances is it excepted back as a fault (OCUK). although Gibbo said himself that coil whine was a fault a couple of times in the last few weeks, but the RMA manager had a different view.

didn't buy from OCUK. Still in the 14 day return window, so don't even have to bother telling them what's the reason.

I was expecting SOME whine, but spending that much time with 670s which were super quiet, I didn't expect it to be THAT bad.

Still if you send it back (if bought online), the place where you bought it from can now charge you (if they don't class the whine as a fault). DSR doesn't exist now and was replaced by Consumer Contracts Regulations (CCR).

I bought in Europe, not UK.

Just reading that indeed when exiting Heaven, the whine is worst for others too. The problem is there is buzzing/slight whine even in idle. That would be somehow acceptable if my previous cards were doing the same, but they weren't.

The only reasons why I wanted to get rid of 670 SLI in favour of 970 Strix was 0dB mode and the pricing meaning it would pretty much be free for me. If I can't get a silent card, I'd just stick with 670 for longer, until it's sorted.

I'll try the G1 in few days.

The whine in that video was nasty. I'd hate to upgrade and then have to put up with that noise.

Seems like loads of people are mentioning it

hey guys going to start on my over clock on the G1 970 was wondering if you could give some fail safe over-clock setting to start from. voltage, power limit, core clock, and memory.

i guess voltage and power limt should be set to max.

should i use 120mz or 144mz refresh in heaven 4.0 and should i activate adaptive v-sync

also which setting should i use in heavens the OCuk Heavens bench mark settings

Does anybody know what the max rpm is on the MSI? There's no sensor reporting rpm anymore as far as I can see so I was going to derive it from the %, so I need to know what the maximum is and I can't find it out anywhere so far
