So a complete and utter side grade then, that 780 isn't even running a high overclock.

My old 780 was BIOS modded and was running a constant 1.3Ghz with GPU boost disabled.

Pretty much, but I knew it would be. It uses less power than the GTX780, runs 10° cooler, and is quieter. The newer NVENC is better for streaming/recording, and will be even better once H.265 can be used.

I can probably overclock the card more as well. Didn't try anything over +200MHz on the core and still have the memory to overclock.

Of course the real reason is the free mouse pad.

Well I would. And I would sell your CPU and pick up a used 2500k and overclock it, they go cheap, one in MM for £75.

Is it really worth expending that much money though for the performance increase that an overclocked K version would give me? I already have it overclocked to the max that a locked version allows (4.1ghz)
