Nvidia GTX 980 Owners Thread

Can anyone give me some advice on a 980? I'm torn between the EVGA FTW and the G1 Gaming. I won't be putting either under water. I have a 650W SuperFlower PSU and was also wondering if that may run into some issues.

EVGA SC
or
EVGA G1

Don't bother with the FTW, the SC is a very good overclocker, yes I know it's a silicon lottery. The G1 has fantastic cooling and great overclocking, but doesn't have the 3-5 year warranty nor step up programme

A few had some issues with their FTW cards, cant remember what now though. I'd get the G1 - Great card, cool temps & OC's well.

You're PSU should be fine.

650w PSU will be fine with a single 980 yes, you will get no issues with that.

The FTW edition is not worth the extra over a SC edition. Just get the SC and match the clock speeds and more!

Got a eVga GTX 980 FTW.

what's the cheapest, quietest 980? I sort of want to go for the asus, but that's only 'cus I have an asus mobo, and looking for quietness as the rest of my itx is a whisper.

I have a silverstone 450w sff psu (which says on their site can take a 980). Currently umm'ing and arr'ing about a 970 or just take a plunge with the 980.

Also, will be running on an Acer XB270HA 27" G-Sync with 3d most of the time (1080p but using dsr hopefully).

So I have had my 980 under water now since Saturday. All been good temp wise etc. But today out of the blue I seem to be getting a buzzing noise coming from the card and the temps have risen by 5-6 degrees. slightly confused by this. Should mention this is only when the card is under load

There is no extra heat. The fans on the 980 kick in around 62 degrees. At Idle 29 degrees.
I have the HAF X case, and 200mm fan blows onto card.
The 580 is for phsyx.
No System slow down, I have benchmarked with 580 in and out.

I be getting another 980 in a few months time.

What about system speed up with it in ? a 580 for phsyx is pointless when you have a 980.I
I take it you have selected the 580 for phsyx in control panel and tested it with a phsyx benchmark
and seen that the 580/980 combo does phsyx faster than the just the 980 ?
