Hey guys, got a 470 (MSI Version) in my PC atm, only a few weeks old from OcUK brand new.

I noticed this a few weeks ago, while playing the Sims 3 (Yeah I know...) it goes black, horrific noises come out the speakers and the whole OS crashes, have to do hard reboot.

Few days ago I formatted it (Was putting a new HDD in), while in there, it did the same thing just sat on the bench in work, doing nothing, checked the temperatures and it was hitting 100c idle. Turned it off, dusted it out with compressed air and re-ran it, idled at about 40c, problem solved.

Just installed MoH, same problem, opening cutscene about 2 minutes in, black screen, horrible noises, hard reboot.

Once rebooted I run Hardware Monitor (CPUID) to see it's just under 100c (Cooled down slightly while rebooting) and since then has dropped to 70c.

Is the card faulty? I've got the latest drivers on from NVidia but I reeeeeally don't want to RMA the card unless I'm sure it's done for :(

Thanks!

Is the fan actually working? could be a faulty fan - clearing it with compressed air might have nudged it back to working proper temporarily.

Mine idles in the mid to upper 30s and doesn't even hit 100C in furmark - generally around 70C gaming - 80C on a really intensive game.

Just had a quick blast on L4D2 to make sure it wasn't just a coincidence and it climbed straight up to 95c before I shut it down for fear of doing any more damage, guess the card is definitely bust. Doh!

Looks like the fan has stopped spinning, odd, it was fine the other day.

Guess it's RMA time then!

EDIT: Rebooted and now the fan IS spinning

Re-testing with L4D2 now

Thought I'd fixed it, ran the MSI program and changed it to enable max fan, rebooted and it started spinning properly, ran L4D2 and it never got past 90c, played for an hour or so on MoH and still fine.

Then I turn it on a few mins ago and go back on MoH. Black screen, crash, hard reboot.
