Hi,
Im looking at getting myself a nVidia video card for my media PC that has HDMI.
Do nVidia graphics chips now output sound over HDMI now? as i seem to remember that they never used to do it.

Also, how does Win7 handle having nVidia & AMD products in the same system? Im thinking nVidia for the graphics, as the mobo's chipset is nVidia and i use nVidia drivers, obviously, for the mobo's features.
Is there any logical reason to stick with nVidia for the graphics?

Thanks in advance all.

On the sound, yes. This has been available on NV cards for quite some time. My GTX275 does it via DVI to HDMI adapter with the card connected to the SPDIF header.

Not really sure what you're asking in your 2nd question.

Interesting...my mobo has DVI out and it has installed a HDMI Audio driver, does that mean if i get a DVI->HDMI adaptor that it'll output sound?

Simplified, can AMD & nVidia Drivers co-exist on the same system now?

Having an AMD motherboard and a nVidia GPU or vice versa is not a problem at all.

I would say if you want sound over HDMI your probably better going AMD - while nVidia has put more effort into their HD Audio drivers lately and most of the new cards work with it, AMD seem to still be a little better at doing audio over HDMI.

Going all AMD isnt really an option....im curious as to this DVI/HDMI thing thats been mentioned. With my sound and DVI output being onboard i would assume that whatever passthroughs are already there...

I have my main TV connected via HDMI to my GTX 480 and the sound is great, no problem at all. I had a lot of HDMI problems with my previous ATI HD5850 1GB... The 6xxx series don't have these problems, so I have heard...

Thats just annoying, my mobo aint playing ball with any video card i put in.
The best i can get is with a ATI card from work that displays warped colours in the bios screens but isnt detected in Windows. :(
