Hi guys,

Basically I am trying to test running a 1440p monitor at 1080p and then upscaling it back up to 1440p .

I select integer scaling in the nvidia control panel but it just makes the image have massive black bars and instead of full screen its a tiny little box .

Am I missing something here?

Aspect ratio scaling or something like that is the correct choise when you want to use any lower resolution scaled so that it's scaled to largest possible size while maintaining correct aspect ratio.

That's not how it works OP. Integer scaling for a 1440P (2560x1440) monitor means you run the games at 720P (1280x720). This only works with Turing cards.

In your scenario you can use the new GPU Scaling tick box of the Image Sharpening option in the latest Nvidia driver. You then choose 1080P within the games' menu and the GPU should scale it up and sharpen it for you. Assuming it works for that game.
