NVIDIA Launches PhysX! - Discuss

GPU acceleration of PhysX is currently supported only in 3DMark Vantage and Unreal Tournament 3. Future games that will support GPU acceleration of PhysX include :

Mstar
Mirrors Edge
Empire : Total War
Backbreaker
Pwnage

Spoiled for choice there!

I've had the PhysX drivers installed for a while now, but I dont remember installing them. I dont have a PhysX card but do have an 8800. Were they installed with my drivers??

Would they have stuck the drivers in a driver release before this artical? (im confused now!)

I wouldn't have thought they would have worked, just confused as to why their there. Dont remember playing any of those games.

You need a modified ini file for it to work on other cards than the GTX280/260 & 9800GTX/+.

Which isnt hard to find.

:)

The inf only works for the drivers, not the actual Physx software unfortunately. They will release it for all cards when they get official drivers up.

The physx software works when you have the modded inf done. I have it working on my 8800gts g92.

Unreal 3 physx levels look really nice too.

The physx drivers will install on any G92 or onwards based cards without any modification aslong as your drivers support CUDA (which I think most very recent 170 series do).

You do seem to get better performance tho with the 177.39 (with modded inf for older cards).

They may as well get the PhysX for free of Nvidia, then be best of both worlds, as they'll be doing both. :D

Which'd be win win anyway for ATi and NV. If they can support it, then there's no reason they shouldn't, in my opinion. I'm hoping they do as I've been interested to play games with PhysX, but never thought it was worth the price of buying a PPU.

Well doesn't seem to work with cellfactor yet... it just tries to initialise the old PPU and fails - falling back to software physx. I get the impression things will need to rebuilt with the newer SDK for them to work with it :(
