I am slightly confused.. can someone tell me if a Geforce GTX460 would be the same quality as nvidia if it is made by Gigabyte or Gainward etc

why is there so many different brands of GTX 460 anyway I thought it was nvidia's card.

thanks

Nvidia design the chips, another company will then fabricate these designs into actual chips out of silicon, Nvidia gets these back to sell to MSi/Gainward etc.

Nvidia will make a reference design card for all the others to then copy,

Then MSI/Gigabyte etc can do modifications to the PCB and cooler design to improve things such as overclocking ability, heat and noise.

All the Add-in board makers do is buy thousands of the gpu cores from nvidia and then source all the other parts needed from various suppliers, this can effect quality of cards between manufacturers.

ok thanks, I read that the gigabyte gtx460 have a tendency to fail after a few months, I have just ordered a PC and there is a chance that it might have a gigabyte card in it, should I be worried about this?
